8 Best Axes In Valheim, Ranked

Axes are used by most Valheim players just to cut wood, but they can also be used as weapons. Here is how we rank each axe you can make in the game.
An axe is one of the first things people who make it to Valheim will need. The axe’s main use is to cut down trees in each biome, but the best ones can also be used as weapons. No matter how far a player gets in this survival game, they will always need an axe.
Axes do have one big flaw, though: they only have one close-range attack. Because of this, axes are often forgotten, and many players instead choose to use polearms, clubs, or swords. Even though using an axe has some drawbacks, players will save time if they always have one in their hands. Axes are not the best weapons, but they can still be used in PVE.
The Stone Axe Is Flimsy & Weak

The Stone Axe is the easiest to make and is used more as a tool than a weapon by most players. To make a basic Stone Axe, you need 4 Stone and 5 Wood, which are easy to find in the Meadows. With only 15 Slash Damage, it’s not a very good weapon.
Even after being upgraded, the Stone Axe can only do 30 damage to an enemy. Still, with 20 Chop, players can use the axe to cut down trees in both the Meadows and the Black Forest. The axe can quickly cut down Pine, Fir, and Beech trees. But the weapon won’t be strong enough to bring down Oak trees. The Stone Axe will do until players get the materials they need to make a better axe.
The Flint Axe Is Only Useful Early On

The Flint Axe is a small improvement over the Stone Axe. It has +5 Slash Damage and +10 Chop Damage. Survivors who haven’t reached the Black Forest yet will be able to use the tool for a few hours of game time. The player will need to find Flint in order to make the weapon. All of the bodies of water in the Meadows biome are surrounded by this resource.
It’s important to note that players have to make a Workbench before they can make a Flint Axe. Even though it’s better than the Stone Axe, there are still better options, especially if the player wants to fight with their axe.
The Bronze Axe Is A Decent Melee Option

To make the Bronze Axe, players will need to find Copper and Tin Ore in the Black Forest. To get Leather Scraps, players will also have to kill Boar in the Meadows. The weapon is much better than the Stone or Flint Axes.
The basic stats for this weapon are 40 Slash and 40 Chop. The Bronze Axe also has a 75 knockback rating, making it the first melee axe that can really be used. If the axe is upgraded, it can do up to 55 damage and 49 Chop Damage. Players who have already beaten Elder and have the Swamp Key should make the Iron Axe instead, even though it can be useful.
The Iron Axe Is Efficient At Combat And Chopping

The Iron Axe is made from Metal Scraps that players find in the Sunken Crypts of the Swamp. These Scraps can be used to make Iron Metal, which can then be used to make the weapon. This axe has 60 Slash Damage, 50 Chop, and a 75 Knockback rating, all of which make it useful in battle.
The axe is just as good as the other Iron weapons in the game, and it can cut down trees more than twice as fast as a basic Stone Axe. With a level 4 Forge, the axe will do 75 damage when it slashes and 59 damage when it chops. Players can use the weapon as their main weapon until they reach the Plains biome and can no longer do so.
The Battleaxe Is A True Weapon

To make the Battleaxe, the game’s first two-handed axe, players will need to find a lot of Iron. The weapon does 75–88 Slash damage, which is very good. But with only 40 Chop, it’s not a good tool for cutting wood. The only other important stat is the axe’s 140 Knockback, which is almost double that of even the best one-handed axes.
For the survivors to make the axe, they need to find enough ore to melt 35 Iron. While looking for Iron in the Sunken Crypts of the Swamp, players will need to collect 30 pieces of Ancient Bark from the Ancient Trees in the biome. The Battleaxe is a good weapon for the early to middle stages of Happy Wheels game, especially now that it can be used faster and does more damage when it stuns.
Crystal Battleaxe Keeps Multiple Enemies At Bay

The Hearth and Home update to Valheim added the Crystal Battleaxe as one of the new weapons. When it comes to stats, the Crystal Battleaxe is better than the Iron Battleaxe in every way. The swooping attacks of this weapon are great for taking out large groups of enemies, but players will need to time their hits right. It looks great and will make a great addition to the arsenal.
The Crystal Battleaxe is also one of the best weapons to use against undead enemies because it does an extra 30 spirit damage. The Crystal Battleaxe does a little more damage than the Blackmetal Axe, but it is harder to use. This is true of all two-handed weapons in Valheim. For example, players will be able to use a shield with the Blackmetal Axe, which has a similar DPS when attack speed is taken into account. For players to make the Crystal Battleaxe, they must get Crystal from the Golems in the Mountain biome.
The Blackmetal Axe Deals Huge Damage To Trees & Foes

The Blackmetal Axe does the most damage of any one-handed slash weapon in Valheim, and its Chop stat is the second-highest of any axe. Even if a player doesn’t want to use it as a weapon, they should still gather the materials to make it because it makes woodcutting much faster until they unlock Jotun Bane. It has less knockback than the two-handed axes, but it doesn’t have the huge -20% movement penalty that these weapons do. Survivors who have made it to the Plains biome should work on getting the Blackmetal weapons unlocked.
Blackmetal, which comes from Blackmetal Scraps that have been cleaned up, is used to make Blackmetal weapons. The scraps are often dropped by many of the enemies in the biome. To make top-tier armor and weapons, players will need a lot of the scraps. They might want to spend an hour or so gathering these materials, since the end result is worth it.
Jotun Bane Is The Best Axe For Woodcutting In The Game

If a player is brave enough to go into the Mistlands, they might find the materials they need to make the legendary Jotun Bane axe. Players will also need 15 Iron and 5 Yggdrasil wood, which can only be cut with the Blackmetal Axe or, ironically, the Jotun Bane. The fact that you also need 3 Bilebags and 10 Refined Eitr to make it makes it one of the hardest things to make.
Players who go to the trouble of making the Jotun Bane will be glad they did, because it is the best axe for cutting wood in Valheim. It is also one of the best offensive axes because it does 80 damage from Slash and 40 damage from Poison. The only bad thing about the Jotun Bane axe is that the glow it gives off, while it looks cool, makes players less sneaky and makes it easier for enemies to find them.
