Can I wear pants to Umrah?
There are a lot of detailed rules that pilgrims must follow in order to complete a legitimate Umrah journey. With the help of their Umrah Packages All-Inclusive Muslims from all over the globe make their way to the holy territory of Makkah, where they can choose from a variety of ceremonies.
Dressing appropriately, that is, in accordance with the Sunnah of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW), is one of the requirements of Umrah. The ‘Ihram’ requires different observances from male and female travellers.
What type of clothing should be worn by the pilgrims?
The Ihram clothing has specific rules for men and women.
Men.
1. Male pilgrims are required to stick to only a particular type of clothing for their Ihram. It includes two white coloured sheets of unstitched clothes only.
2. No other type of clothing can be worn by men.
3. It is prohibited for male pilgrims to wear stitched clothes in Ihram.
4. The sheet covering the lower half of the body should cover the area from the navel to down below the knees. While the other one can be draped over the shoulders like a shawl.
5. Men cannot wear any type of face or head coverings in Ihram.
6. Since feet and ankles should be uncovered at all times in Ihram, men cannot wear closed footwear.
Women.
1. Women can wear any type of clothing for their Ihram because they aren’t required to stick to any dress code.
2. The clothing female pilgrims are wearing for the ihram must not only remain modest and simple but also loose fit and thick enough that it does not reveal their body parts.
3. Many women prefer wearing an ‘Abaya’ over their ordinary clothes in order to avoid all of the confusion related to ihram clothing.
4. Female pilgrims can only wear stitched clothes for their ihram. It is prohibited for them to wear unstitched clothes.
5. Head and feet should remain covered at all times. For which wearing a hijab and socks remains advised.
6. It is not permitted for women to over their faces and hands in Ihram.

Can pants be worn during Umrah?
In Ihram.
When men are in the state of ihram, they are not to wear trousers during the Umrah ceremonies.
While women are in the state of ihram, they are free to wear whatever they like, including trousers. But it can’t go away;
• Loose fit.
• Of appropriate length.
• Modest.
• Made of suitable fabric.
Outside of Ihram.
While performing Umrah outside of Ihram, pilgrims are permitted to wear trousers as their daily attire. Thus, they are free to wear trousers while doing all of the following: offering voluntary prayers, wandering the holy places, and everything else.
Nonetheless, important considerations regarding Saudi Arabian local conventions and regulations must be given due consideration. Hence, check that your trousers provide enough;
Loose-Fit.
Ideally, your trousers would have a loose fit and not be too form fitting. Thus, allowing for freedom of movement while also guaranteeing modesty throughout the Umrah rites.
Modest Length.
Pants worn by women performing Umrah must be of modest length, meaning they reach the ankles or longer. However, according to sunnah, men are required to wear trousers that reach at least the ankles.
Appropriate Fabric.
Pick a pair of trousers made of a fabric that isn’t see-through, is lightweight, and allows air to circulate.
Considering the weather in Makkah, a linen or cotton blend fabric is usually the way to go because it meets all these requirements and keeps rashes at bay.
Pairing with a Long Top.
If you want to wear trousers during Ihram, it’s best to wear a long top or tunic that covers your hips and buttocks properly (i.e., doesn’t show anything). Similarly, men who want to wear trousers when not in ihram should do the same.
So, males aren’t supposed to wear trousers while they’re in Ihram for Umrah, but they’re free to wear them once they’re out of Ihram. Conversely, women are permitted to wear trousers both during and after their Ihram.
