Several IITs have initiated programs such as women-only hostels, creating a female faculty coalition and implementing support systems such as de-stress counseling for all women enrolled in the IITs.

The results are clear – female enrolment in IITs is on the rise, and it is a testament to the commitment and hard work of the government, the IITs, and female applicants towards achieving a more gender-balanced and equitable higher educational ecosystem in India.
