This project seeks to enable marginalised adolescent girl’s access to quality technological knowledge and resources, along with building their abilities to take up leadership roles and become financially-independent.
The project is designed to bring adolescent girls from the rural, semi-urban and urban areas of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu together, providing them with the resources, guidance and support needed to pursue a higher education. Under ‘Project Aspiration’, Woxsen University will provide scholarships and fee waivers to the students, as well as mentorship and counselling support.
The project has been launched in collaboration with authorities from the three states, and will offer on online courses in areas such as engineering, technology and business studies. In addition, Project Aspiration aims to equip the adolescent girl students with a platform to showcase their skills and gain recognition. The university has also partnered with local businesses to provide internships and job placements to the successful students.
Dr. Pranay Raj Samant, President of Woxsen University, said, “’Project Aspiration’ is a symbol of Woxsen’s commitment to empower adolescent girls from marginalised communities with the tools and resources needed to pursue higher education and succeed in today’s rapidly changing technological landscape.”
He further added, “We believe in creating more equal and empowering environments for young girls from all walks of life, and we are confident that Project Aspiration will help them on their journey to greater independence, self-sustainable and professional success.”
University authorities expect the project, which is backed by a strong team of alumni, faculty members and public and private stakeholders, to have a positive and lasting impact on the development of adolescent girls in the region. The project is expected to roll out in 2021 and Woxsen university is hopeful that the project will be a major success and positively impact the lives of many young girls.
